Another Summer Project 2009
When we first moved into this house the area behind it in the first photo below had evergreen yews planted along the back. That was in 1986. Those yews grew over the years and we didn't trim them. Eventually they got too big, especially the one that was in the middle. Rather than trim them, we decided to remove them and do something with that corner. Those yews were not easy to remove. We had to yank the one out with a chain and our F-150 truck. Yeah, that middle one.
D decided he was going to make his own concrete pad in that area. He brought several loads of stone in for the base. And then he had his knee operation. And that area became neglected for the next several years. Every summer weeds grew up through the stones. Mostly thistle weeds. It became a jungle for each new crop of kittens every year.
To the left is where our garage is and to the right is my kitchen window. The addition to the extreme right is the family room that the former owners added on. Hopefully next spring we will paint the cellar doors. The T-1-11 on the family room needs painting again also.
One of the guys who installed our wind turbine does landscaping. We chose him to do the concrete pad. We already had enough stone for the base, so that cut our costs a bit.
This looks so much better.
That area looks so much cleaner and neater now that it is all finished. All we have to do is find a suitable shelter big enough for the outside cats to use. Once that is done we can pressure wash our deck and stain or paint it. It is in dire need of whatever we decide to do with it. It has been pushed off far too long and it looks like it might not get done until next spring. And that can't come soon enough for me for many reasons. I HATE WINTER! But you all knew that, didn't you?
