Brian Vickers or Mr. Tumnus?
Remember this character from Tales of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe? It is Mr. Tumnus. I never knew his name, although I did see the film. There was a point last year where I started calling Brian Vickers, GoatBoy. He reminded me of Mr. Tumnus, who I think looks like a goat boy. A lot. The name has carried over to this season I am afraid. I can't help myself, it just flows off my tongue so smoothly.

Seriously, don't you agree with me?

I think he knows. He looks kind of pissed off in this picture. And he's looking right at me.

(Please, people, don't think of me as making jokes of certain people - this is all done in good, clean fun.)

And The Oscar Goes To...
HEATH LEDGER
for
Best Supporting Actor

My favorite knight:
(A Knight's Tale)Heath's time on earth was all too brief, but he left an everlasting mark on the film industry. I, for one, will never forget him.

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;
For everyone that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Voodoo Happiness
One of my readers asked me if I had an M&Ms car that I stick with a pin to cause Kyle Busch to wreck. No, I don't, but I did make this quick drawing during last year's racing season when he was winning everything and pissing me off to no end. I found a sticker and slapped it on the head I drew. It then took up residence on my refrigerator during the off season.

I finally hooked up my 4-in-1 printer, scanned my drawing, and with much more patience than I thought I had, I was able to wait for it to transfer from the one album to my standard album that I use for Blogger. And I really thought that would be a lost cause as I didn't see how it would happen on its own, and I didn't know how to do it myself. But it all worked out and I didn't have to do a thing.
If you look closely you can see the pin holes from last year. I didn't have to use it for the Daytona 500 last weekend though. Junior took care of that for me. But, believe me, if I have to use it extensively this year, by god, I will...with a vengeance. Do you think I should make one for that Vickers fella too?

Words To Live By

It is time for me to continue his legacy in the only way I know I can - by taking the life lessons that he told me: Be a man, race hard and contend for Championships.

Dale Jr. Is Not Perfect
Obviously I am not going to say much about Dale Jr. as to what he did or didn't do during the running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday. But I will say that this made my day despite Dale Jr.'s many rookie mistakes:

This is the only way I like to see Kyle Busch's car.

And an added note to Brian Vickers: Paybacks are hell, buddy. Like two years ago when he took out his then teammate, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Jr. who were both leading one-two on the final laps at Talladega. Perhaps Dale Jr. was thinking about that day, too.

Yes, I'm Saying It Again...
I absolutely love this kid...
Scott SpeedI don't know, and I don't care, how other NASCAR fans feel about him. He's colorful both in his actions and what he has to say. This is his first full year in Cup racing, and I don't expect him to blow away the competition. But he will make the year more interesting for me.
On the other hand, I'm not a Toyota fan and I also never cared for his teammate, Brian Vickers. But all in all, I am a Scott Speed fan 100%.

I AM BORED...

...with NASCAR. So far this season nothing has moved me. I still have such a let-down feeling from last season. There are so many changes, it makes my head spin. Mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, buy-outs...whatever happened to the good old days? Fans that are just discovering this sport have no idea what NASCAR was all about just two decades ago.
...with this freakin' weather. We go from frigid to the 50's or 60's back to frigid and it is getting old fast. We just had a warm-up yesterday and it will be cold again today, and now they tell us another warm-up is coming. At least the warm days get rid of the snow, but this yo-yo weather has me confused. I can't remember another year like this has been, weather-wise.
...with TV. This is usually a sweeps month, as they like to call it, but so far this month there has been a good amount of reruns of the major shows. I remember the seasons when there would be fresh new shows in prime time every night, every week for the whole season. Who watches reruns anyway? When I've seen the show once, I don't want to watch it again within a few weeks' time.
...with the economy. I guess I really don't have to say too much about it either. Everybody is touched by it one way or another. Except those that are trying to get rich quick at the expense of the rest of us. And they should be hung by the you-know-what. With no questions asked either.
...with life right now. Don't ask, because I have no idea why. Maybe it's because of all four reasons above. Maybe not. Maybe by tomorrow I'll change my mind and everything will be a-okay in my little world. And maybe not. Confused? Yeah, me too.

This is a shot of our basement back in November. You can see how the guys put the insulation in the ceiling. Not exactly how we wanted it, but who were we to complain since our insurance paid for it. We would have preferred the insulation be put between the rafters.
That is my new freezer under the steps. We used to have a chest freezer in the garage but decided that since our basement is so nice and clean, we would put the new one down there.
A lot has changed since this photo was taken, but I believe I can now put this basement horror to rest and return to a more normal life if that's possible. It really knocked the hell out of us (at least it did me) and I am glad it is over with.
I cannot imagine what else is in store for us, so I won't even try.

I'm A Celtic Girl At Heart
I'm not 100% Celtic. I am a mixed breed, as it were. I get my Scottish and Welsh blood from my mother (with a bit of English thrown in) and the German part is from my father. Anything beyond that was never offered to us as children. I was in my 20's when my sister found out we had German blood in our veins. And it's just recently that I discovered the Celtic blood.

If you want to see the German in me come out though, just start an argument with me, or just say the wrong thing at the wrong time. When I get truly upset, the veins in my neck may tend to bulge out and I'm ready to pounce, no holds barred. The only things that calm me down, are my computer and two cats.
My Celtic heritage wasn't learned till later in life. Mom never spoke of those things to us and I don't know why. I guess it just wasn't something she felt we needed to know. She's gone now, but her frugality lingers in me to a certain extent. Mom wasn't exactly a penny pincher and I'm far from one myself, but she did know how to save. And these days, one has to be more cautious with the way the economy keeps going into the dumper day by day.
I absolutely love my mixed blood. When I learned that I was part Scottish and Welsh, I was very happy. After all, I didn't want to be a full-blooded German. Yes, that is where my temper comes from. Not so bad these days as it was in my youth. Unbridled tempers are the very worst. I've gotten a lot better holding it in. And as I wrote that, I sat here chuckling to myself, saying Who am I trying to kid anyway? I crack me up at times.

Dang It!
The Cardinals lost the Super Bowl. And that marks the end of football. We now move on to NASCAR racing. Saturday night is the Bud Shootout and on Sunday there will be qualifying for the front row of the Daytona 500. Finally...

Matthew 5:4
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
