I guess that could be my middle name. Among other things. Sometimes being a procrastinator is a good thing. Mostly, it's not. I have procrastinated so much over my lifetime that it has become a habit I cannot kick. I'm not so sure I want to anyway.
Here's the latest: I bought a laptop back in the beginning of February. I have since gotten a wireless router. I didn't know I needed one of those when I bought the laptop. Duh. Will you believe me when I tell you I still haven't connected everything?
I tried again today. No luck. I get everything hooked up and still can't connect to the Internet. That's twice now. When nothing works the way I think it should, I take my toys and leave. That's the pigheaded stubbornness in me. My German side. I have many sides. But I think that is my worst side. My Scottish, Welsh and English sides are so much nicer. My opinion, and that's all that's needed. And I have since learned that one of my ancestors came all the way from Barbados back in the 1600's, so that would give me a little touch of French, oui?
I have one option to this wireless stuff. A friend said he will come here and do it for me. Trouble is he's in a chair and would not be able to come through this door to get at the computer. So he will hook me up while in his van in our driveway. He says he can do it and I believe him. I have DSL and it has something to do with my Pppoe so I am told. Like I said to my husband, why does everything I try to do come with so many complications?
***********************************************
After a cold and windy week we are finally getting some summer weather. I turned the heat down weeks ago when we had that last heat wave and have been freezing my butt off since. But my husband hasn't complained and neither have the cats. And the last couple days that old turbine has been spinning to it's heart's content. Lots of electricity being generated there. Once we get everything paid and up to date (we were on a budget amount and have asked to be taken off of it), we will be able to tell just how much money the turbine is saving us. That should be in another two months.
***********************************************
And, yes, one of these days I will get around to uploading the photos from my new camera. I keep snapping away and haven't uploaded a single photo to the computer. I was hoping to have the wireless stuff hooked up before I empty out the camera. And you know why that hasn't been done. Yup, one of these days...one of my favorite sayings.
I am very opinionated and will argue a point to the nth degree. I tend to want to get to the bottom of things, so I push the envelope beyond what is expected.

Just Wondering
I feel guilty if I don't post every couple of days. And when I see that it is longer than normal I panic. And when I try to think of something to write about, nothing comes to mind. So I sit here and think...hard. And still nothing comes to mind. I think about the day's activities, or even the previous week's activities. Still nothing. If one does not do much, one cannot write about it, can they? That's my problem. I don't do much.
I was thinking earlier about when I first started this blog back in 2005. I started it because I was angry. And I was angry because I had been let go of what would be the last job I would ever hold. It's no secret that all my life I hated working for other people. But I did because I had to, not because I wanted to. The jobs I held were always office jobs and I did enjoy them to a certain extent. That last job was a doozy. It started out good and then the company moved farther away and all of a sudden the commute became a huge hassle. And that added fuel to the fire. I tolerated it as long as I could.
Then the new manager arrived from another branch in another state. His reputation preceded him causing me to dislike him before he came to where I worked. I didn't even give him the time of day...ignored him as much as I could. I guess after awhile he got the message and decided he didn't like me either because within a few months of his arrival, I was on the way out.
But that's not what I wanted to write about. When I was thinking back to the birth of this blog and why it came to be, I remember having a lot of other blogs I would visit on a daily basis. So many of them are gone now...they stopped writing for one reason or another. And the few that I read now don't post as much as they used to either. There are a few that post every day and I wish I were one of them.
So I guess my question is this: what happened between 2005 and now to cause people to either quit their blog or hardly write at all. Are blogs becoming a thing of the past, or is it just my imagination?

Still Kicking
I'm still here. Just so wrapped up in this ancestry stuff and the time just flies while I am searching. It's a good thing, too, because I don't have much to write about.
I did take my Mustang out for a spin today all by myself. It's a 1997 GT model and the odometer recently only turned 3,000 miles. Yeah, I know. Neither of us gets out much these days. And when I do, my husband does the driving in our F-150 pickup.
But with my husband away at an auction most of the day, I decided to treat myself to a ride all over the countryside. I was awarded with a magnificent deer that had just crossed the road up ahead of me, so I pulled over and watched it romp through the newly sprouted crop of something (it looked like grass to me). The deer slowly ran the entire field until it disappeared into the trees. And I didn't have my new camera with me.
The sun was shining, the air was warm, my windows were open, and the radio was cranking out heavy metal. And I was rejuvenated and my batteries have been recharged. So I say...bring it on!

Two-fer
This is my daughter's boyfriend's ride for this year at the races:

And this is their cat, Harley, who apparently not only rules the roost but it looks like he controls the TV too.

Harley was found wandering near where they live and was rescued within days of our orphan, Punkin', so they are just about the same age. And they pretty much went through the same health issues. But Harley far outweighs our Punkin', who remains tiny like his mother was.

Work Is A Four Letter Word
I used to hate Mondays more than I hated anything else. But I only hated them when I had to work. It's such a wonderful feeling now when late Sunday rolls around and I know I get to sleep in. When I was working and late Sunday rolled around I would slowly start to get ill. Really ill. But it had to be done and I forced myself to do it and went through the motions.
I hated Mondays for two very good reasons. One, I like my sleep and I don't like having to get up at an ungodly hour so I can prettify (my made up word) myself so I look good in other people's eyes. Sometimes. Maybe. The other reason I hated Mondays was a four letter word: work. For as much as I hated work I only missed three years and that's because I stayed home to raise my only child.
These days we sleep as long as we want to, eat when we feel like it, go away when the mood hits us, watch TV till we are bleary eyed, and I could go on and on. I just wish it were like this when I was younger and had a lot of get-up-and-go. Now, I get up and sit.
But I don't sit all day. That would drive me crazy. I do manage to get a lot done but there are days when nothing gets done. Those are the days when the pain is intolerable. But I do manage to get in at least a half hour of exercise in the basement using different kinds of equipment.
As much as I hated work I did my duty until one day a new manager decided he didn't like me so he would get rid of me. And then he got rid of my husband. We worked for the same company. And then that manager left the company for a few years. He's back there now but working in a different capacity. Now he's a regional manager. I would still like to castrate him. It's not that he wouldn't deserve it.
And on another note...
My favorite season is just getting started. We had a bit of summer for a few days but now we are enjoying Spring-like weather. Like everyone else across this country, the trees and flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and I am happy as a clam. Why? I love Spring and I'm glad I don't have to be sitting in some office looking out the window and dreaming of the day when I wouldn't have to be sitting in that office looking out the window.

Bye Bye Heat Wave
The rain is here...finally! It is raining as I write and it will help to cool things off. We have had a few days of heat like we usually get in July or August. I just turned all the heat off in each room (we have electric heat) once the hot weather got here, so I am not in a hurry to put the air conditioners on. I at least hoped to have a month of respite from having to use a lot of energy since our utility company jacked the rates up 30% January 1st with more to follow. They just put in another request for another rate increase. Maybe if their CEO's would stop being so piggish with their salaries they wouldn't have to ask for more money from their customers.
It has been so hot that my flowering plum tree blossomed and within two days all the flowers are gone. Same with our weeping cherry tree. When we have a normal Spring the blossoms stick around for quite a bit. Spring is my favorite season, so after a long, dark Winter full of snow, ice, and crappy weather I really look forward to a fresh, new beginning. I know it can't be perfect every year, but I would at least like to see a normal Spring one of these years. Sometimes it is so cold for so long and it seems the blossoms just don't want to make an entrance. Other times we have wet weather that even if the blossoms do appear, the rain knocks them off the tree.
One of these years Mother Nature will get it right. I just hope I'm around to see it.

Researching My Ancestors
I have been doing this off and on over the years but recently I got more aggressive with my research.
Needless to say I become very bleary eyed working late into the morning simply because I lose all consciousness of time. When I think of it I look at the clock on my computer and wonder where the time went.
I have found a lot this past week but have hit a huge stumbling block trying to find my father's grandfather who was born in 1860. I'll keep searching though and hope that sooner or later he will surface.
If only my Dad was here so I could ask him.
