I didn't realize it's been awhile since I last wrote something. I have a good excuse though.
My husband and I are just fine; now it's the cats that are sick. Baby Eli got sick first and it was so slight that I hadn't really noticed anything was wrong. He bounces off the walls and there isn't much that can keep him down so nothing was thought of it. His one eye was half closed for a day and was fine the next day because I used warm moistened cotton balls on it. I thought that was the end of it.
Then Punkin' started hacking and coughing like I have never heard a cat do before. I thought it might be asthma but now I'm not so sure. It could be his allergies kicking up again, something that was lying low for quite some time. I thought he had outgrown those, apparently not. Today his one eye is the same as Eli's was a few weeks ago.
Yesterday (or maybe the day before) Dakota was not herself. She didn't want to eat and as a matter of fact she even spit in her food, which I then had to throw out. And her voice turned to being squeaky. Today it is stronger and she has been eating since yesterday. Knock on wood...Junior is still OK for now.
I have no idea how this happened since they are indoor cats. The only thing I can think of is when Eli was at the vet back in January he may have picked up something then. I will never know.
At any rate, I must call the vet tomorrow and see what I should do. I have a dental appointment mid-morning so I will call when I get back.

The Daytona 500 was cancelled due to rain most of the day. They are planning to start it at noon Monday...despite the fact that it is supposed to rain most of the day again. I am hoping they decide to have it on Tuesday instead as I have no plans for that day. Unless I have to take Punkin' to the vet.
Like I said, it's always something around here.
I am very opinionated and will argue a point to the nth degree. I tend to want to get to the bottom of things, so I push the envelope beyond what is expected.

I Hope I Am Doing The Right Thing
Blogger has changed the word verification on our blogs from something that was very readable to two very unreadable words. While you might be able to read one word, the other one is so bad you just cannot decipher it. I have run into this situation this week and it took me at least 6 or 7 tries till I was able to read both words. Since then I have stopped leaving comments.
I have decided that the best thing for me is to disengage the word verification. If I start receiving weird comments or a lot of spam I will have to start using it again. I hope not since I get very little comments to start with. This new two word system is a nightmare.
I am hoping enough people complain about it so that Blogger goes back to the old easy to read version.

I'm Back From The Land Of Grunge
Getting sick in the early morning hours of Super Bowl Sunday was not my plan at all. But I did. In the end, I don't know exactly what I had other than retching, diarrhea, stomach cramps, queasiness, wooziness, well...you name it and I had it.
The only good thing about that first day of sickness was that the NY Giants pulled off a win in the Super Bowl. I couldn't ask for anything better than that. The rest of the week left little to be desired.
No, judging from both these cartoons, I didn't go from being a blond to a brunette. I have always been a brunette. I also didn't whip out the vacuum and duster as soon as I got better. Those chores are still waiting to be done.
It took me a full six days to turn the tide on my sickness, for want of a better word to describe it.
By Friday night I thought I was over it and that all it would take was a good night of rest. Little did I know. I stayed up late to catch the latest episode of Spartacus on Starz. After it was over, while I was on my way to make a pit stop before going to bed, the feeling that came over me made me walk a little faster than usual.
A good retching finally cleansed my system of the last vestiges of whatever the heck it was that took up residence in my body. After that it was smooth sailing and I am finally back to my old self. And it's a wonderful feeling.
Once again I have my husband to thank for this last episode. He did the same thing last October. He gets sick and two days later I get sick. Seriously, this nonsense has to stop.

Yesssssssssssss!
Although I was sick I was still able to enjoy the game and the outcome.
Apparently I have gotten whatever sickness it is my husband has. I can get up and do little things but then the weakness takes over again so I have to rest.
Time now to crawl back into my recliner and savor that much-needed Giants win.
And to all the Patriots fans out there, including the team: Boo Hoo!

Here We Go Again
There is nothing like having a sick husband in the house. It would be nice if I knew why he is sick. It's not a cold or flu or anything like that. It started with an upset stomach in the wee early hours of Friday morning.
By the time I awoke and was up and about, his problem was full blown. He spent most of the day in bed. The few times he was out of bed he spent in the bathroom.
He thinks it was tainted food again. I just don't get it. All those years driving truck and being on the road eating greasy food up and down the East Coast and nothing ever happened. Now it seems he gets this way every couple of months.
I do believe his immune system has been compromised. I think all that crappy food is catching up with him now. I have no other explanation. I am making sure he gets his electrolytes just to be on the safe side.
Other than his being sick, nothing else has changed. I am waiting for the Super Bowl as I imagine thousands of other people are doing the same. Whatever the outcome I think I will be OK. Sure, I would love for the Giants to win it but if they don't I will take it in stride. I think. I'm really not sure. I won't know till the game is over or maybe sooner depending on the score. I might let you folks know but then again I might not.
We had a few days of nice warm weather for this time of the year but the cold weather came back again. And that stupid groundhog saw his shadow so they say we will have six more weeks of winter. I think they're all nuts. Groundhogs can't predict weather. Heck, a lot of meteorologists have trouble predicting weather.
In two weeks on the 18th of this month the first NASCAR race of the season will take place: the Budweiser Shootout. I am so ready for racing this year. Last year not so much. But I have great hopes for Dale Jr. to do well in 2012. I just have that feeling. Fingers crossed.
